Our little story...
For the last week of our trip, we went up to the very north of Scotland (not counting the Orkney and Shetland Islands), then we came back down little by little, day after day. This was the opportunity to discover Castle Sinclair Girnigoe on December 28. The day was freezing and thick white frost covered everything. The Sun, low as it was, had difficulty warming even the slightest blade of grass. So we put on our hats and went to discover the ruined castle perched above the sea. The cliff on which the ruins rest is particularly impressive and steep, constantly hit by the waves of the North Sea. The castle was built at the end of the 15th century and has had a particularly dark family history. Frightened by a supposed rebellion, George Sinclair, Earl of Caithness, imprisoned his son, John, in the castle for 7 years. John ended up dying mad and thirsty because his father only fed him corned beef, without water.
