Somewhere in Scotland

Ben Vrackie

Our little story...

We climbed Ben Vrackie on December 5. It was among the coldest days we spent in Scotland. The climate in the east of the country is rather cool because it is not warmed by the Gulf Stream, like the west coast. So this is where we saw Scottish snow. Before starting the climb, there was not a bit of snow. Then the higher we went, the more white the ground became. At the summit, a good 50 centimeters of snow awaited us. This hike was punctuated by numerous slips, because our shoes were not really suitable. But the most striking fact is that at 841 meters above sea level, in the deep snow, we came across a man in shorts. The descent took place at the same time as the sun was setting, and a good beer awaited us in the starting village, Pitlochry. We climbed Ben Vrackie on December 5.
